These terms apply to all interactions with Medusa Japan — engaging us as an agency, using software we build and operate, or installing our apps and plugins through partner storefronts.
1. Who we are
Medusa Japan GK (合同会社 Medusa Japan), a Japanese Godo Kaisha based in Osaka, Japan. Throughout this document "we", "us", or "Medusa Japan" refers to Medusa Japan GK.

2. What these terms cover
Medusa Japan operates three connected lines of business. These terms apply across all of them.
- Agency engagements. Branding, creative production, marketing strategy, product and UX design, AI automation, software development, and adjacent consulting — delivered under bespoke client agreements.
- In-house products. Software platforms, directories, and AI media systems we design, build, and operate ourselves (including offerings presented as case studies on medusajapan.net).
- Distributed apps and plugins. Software we publish through partner storefronts — currently the Shopify App Store and the Freemius marketplace for WooCommerce plugins.
3. Agency engagements
Agency work is governed by a Statement of Work, Master Services Agreement, or equivalent contract signed with each client. These Terms supplement those agreements; where a signed SoW conflicts with these Terms, the SoW prevails.
Case studies and projections shown on medusajapan.net — including modeled traffic, clicks, qualified leads, and buyer counts — are forward-looking estimates based on conservative assumptions and prior client work. They are illustrative, not guaranteed outcomes for any specific engagement. Actual results depend on product, market, budget, and execution variables outside our sole control.
4. Shopify apps
We currently maintain 83 apps listed on the Shopify App Store, priced between $5 and $29 USD per month. Billing, subscription changes, trials, and refunds for Shopify apps are handled exclusively by Shopify under Shopify's Merchant Terms of Service and App Store Terms — we cannot directly refund or modify a Shopify subscription. Account or payment disputes for Shopify apps must be raised through Shopify Support.
License. An active subscription grants the merchant store associated with your Shopify account a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app for the duration of the subscription. Reselling, sublicensing, or repackaging app functionality is not permitted.
5. WooCommerce plugins (Freemius)
We currently distribute one live WooCommerce plugin — Medusa SEO Schema for WooCommerce — at $49 USD per year, with a 14-day free trial before billing begins. Billing, license keys, renewals, and refunds are handled by Freemius via their checkout. Refunds requested within the 14-day money-back window can be filed directly with Freemius. After 14 days, refund requests are at our discretion and reviewed case-by-case.
License. Per-store. Each license activation covers one WooCommerce site. Multi-site or developer licenses are available on request via apps@medusajapan.net.
6. Acceptable use
Across all our agency deliverables, products, apps, and plugins, you agree not to:
- Use what we provide to violate applicable law — including data protection rules, anti-spam regulations, sanctions, or third-party intellectual property rights.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code beyond what underlying open-source licenses permit.
- Resell, sublicense, or repackage our products or deliverables as your own without written permission.
- Use our infrastructure to attack, probe, or interfere with other systems.
We may suspend or terminate access if these conditions are materially breached.
7. As-is warranty and limitation of liability
Agency deliverables, in-house products, apps, and plugins are provided as-is, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or specific commercial outcome. We aim to ship reliable software and rigorous strategic work, but we do not warrant uninterrupted operation, error-free behaviour, or that any campaign or product will achieve a particular result.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of our services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim — for agency work, the fees paid under the relevant SoW; for apps and plugins, the amount paid via Shopify or Freemius.
8. Privacy
Our handling of personal data is described in our separate Privacy Policy. For GDPR or other data-subject requests, contact apps@medusajapan.net. We respond within 30 days.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Osaka, Japan, unless the parties agree otherwise. For disputes routed through Shopify or Freemius, those platforms' resolution processes apply first.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on medusajapan.net with at least 14 days' notice before they take effect. Continued use of our services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
